Written by azliyana on Sunday, November 25, 2007

Hi everyone,

It’s taking a long time for me to write back here (Mesothelioma Lung Cancer Blog). I have to complete my task before get back to my town. At the same time I have to repair my laptop. However, it’s had done and I have a lot of time right now to write and sharing any new info about Mesothelioma around the world.

I’m just visit the link listed at this blog’s sidebar. One of that links is too interested to visit. It is Mesothelioma News site. Actually that blog is not amateur blogger like me, but there is a lot of info and experts in Mesothelioma area.

Based on the latest issue by Mesothelioma News at 24th November 2007, it’s wrote about the ceremony of International Asbestos Memorial to remember British victims of Mesothelioma and other Asbestos- related disease. It’s involving 5,000 bulbs planted in that ceremony and surely it have the unique of meaning. This news is reported by Rochdale Council’s Environmental Services Department. If you want to know more and read it for yourself, just clicking this link http://www.rochdaleonline.co.uk/News/news.asp?ID=4828

Mesothelioma Lung Cancer : 5,000 Bulbs & International Asbestos Memorial
Back to this article’s title, it shown that there are many people from any countries come and attend this ceremony. They come from United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Europe and USA. Most of them are members of Friends of the Memorial Gardens, the Save Spodden Valley campaign .In fact; the Rochdale Memorial Gardens is the home of the International Asbestos Memorial. Whether we known or not, this place ( Rochdale ) is the birthplace of the world's asbestos textile industry. Awareness and Suffering of Mesothelioma and other Asbestos related disease has a large impact in their own life. It’s hard to memorize that suffering of.

This ceremony is brought by the Rochdale Council’s Environmental Services Department and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers on the International Asbestos Memorial. Taken a short quote from Mesothelioma News:

5,000 crocus bulbs were planted to represent the number of asbestos-related deaths that occur in the United Kingdom each year. The clusters of flowers represent disease clusters that arise in geographical areas of high asbestos exposure. The crocuses are largely white (for remembrance) and purple (for the color of ribbons worn to remember those who have died from occupational disease). The planting is anticipated to be in full bloom for Action Mesothelioma Day in late February. Since the International Asbestos Memorial opened last year, visitors have come from across the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia and the United States. Rochdale, the city that hosts the asbestos memorial, was the home of the world’s asbestos textile industry.”

This symbolic has a unique message. For our general knowledge, there are currently 2000 UK deaths each year from the asbestos cancer mesothelioma. By the way, it will give us a frame of meaning that we hope this disease (Mesothelioma & asbestos related disease) will be end. And we hope the people will life in and environmental and health and safety laws around the world.
